I read a post on another web site this morning about a purchaser who did not receive a home inspection prior to purchase. After the closing she did get the inspection done and there were lots of issues the seller may have repaired if they had been part of the negotiation process....
This is a buyer's market. Motivated sellers are making repairs to get the deal done. Motivated sellers are making price concessions to get the deal done. More importantly though, your inspection needs to be done to make sure you know what you are buying!
So, who are the key members of your real estate team when purchasing real estate?
- Your real estate agent - don't leave home without him.
- Your loan officer - they know what you can afford.
- Your insurance broker - protect your interest.
- Your Home Inspection Professional - worth every penny you spend!
This may be a simplistic approach to the buying process but the point is you are not in this alone. More importantly, you should not be in it alone. And the key member of your team should be your real estate agent who is there to advise and counsel on all aspects of the process.
