Will the "Sound Wall" ever be built in Viera?

It looks as if the sound wall for the Interstate 95 corridor that cuts through Viera (north Melbourne, Florida) is on track. If you have driven the Interstate lately you know that the state is in the process of making it a six lane highway. The noise has been an issue for homeowners in Viera developments east of the Interstate.

According to Jennifer Vreeland, Consultant Project Manager, Florida Department of Transportation:

The permit from the SJRWMD [St.Johns River Water Mgmt.]has been issued. This is our clearance to begin construction.

The contractor will need to build his access points across the canal from the Interstate side, clear and grub the area he needs to build the wall and then begin putting in the posts and finally the panels. I do not have a start date yet, as we only got the permit a few days ago.

I have requested time frames from the contractor and will forward that information as soon as I get it.

Let me know if you have questions, I will do my best...remember the contractor now has to plan his approach and get with his sub-contractors.

The below email was forwarded to me by the owner of 2397 Deercroft Drive, a pool home I have listed for sale at $189,900. It seems all the feedback I get on this
pool home is about the Interstate 95 noise.

[I can not market this house with a promise of a sound barrier however I can make public the information I have been provided.]

The contractor begins clearing and grubbing the land on Monday.

Jennifer Vreeland will walk the berm with the contractor early Monday morning.

They will try to save as many trees as possible. If you are concerned about certain trees close to your property line, THIS WEEKEND MARK THOSE TREES.

Jennifer asks homeowners to place a sign on the tree so she can see it Monday morning and talk to the contractor about it. Make sure the sign is big enough for her to see and be sure it stays on the tree.

It does indeed look like progress is being made. Let us keep our fingers crossed that this indeed does happen!
