Reading some of my older posts (over 1,500 so far), I came across this one and wanted to recycle it. Although lighthearted, the point is serious - short sales can be a viable solution to mortgage problems.
I read a little humorous web post that told how a woman's husband had been slipping in and out of a coma for several months. However she she stayed by his bedside every single day.
When he came out of the coma, he motioned for her to come nearer.
As she sat by him, he said, "You know what? You have been with me all through the bad times.
- When I got fired, you were there to support me.
- When my business failed, you were there.
- When I got shot, you were by my side.
- When we lost the house, you gave me support.
- When my health started failing, you were still by my side... You know what?"
"What dear?" She asked gently. "I think you bring me bad luck."
Sometimes we find ourselves in situations where our own actions caused the problem. Sometimes we find ourselves in situations where the cause is external - like the real estate market nosediving!
If you are having problems with your mortgage, talk with your lender. If your circumstances have changed and you need to sell, perhaps a short sale is something to consider. The key is to talk to someone and not ignore the issues!
