Hello, My name is Gary...and I am a Real Estate Marketer…

The truth is I am in the business of marketing real estate. I was speaking with another real estate agent last who who said hew as not in the marketing business but rather the "helping" business.  Like many in the marketing business is helping people achieve a goal - finding a house or condo to call home!

When did the term "marketer" come to have such a negative connotation?

In the end, all of us in the real estate profession are marketing specialists.  But, not all marketing specialists are created equal. (Is that the Battle Hymn of the Republic I hear in the background?  Just kidding – relax!)

Regardless of product (real estate, financial instruments, college recruitment, health care services, legal services, etc),  success comes down to two things:  (1)  Product knowledge and (2) Marketing skills.

A real estate agent's product knowledge includes your neighborhood.

A real estate  agent’s marketing skills will be demonstrated by how they respond when you question their market plan for your property. Property specific marketing is critical in this market for any house or condo.

When choosing a real estate agent to assist you with relocation and the purchase of a house or condo, product knowledge includes your new area of interest.  Product knowledge includes the schools, the neighborhoods, the medical facilities, the selling prices of recent transactions and other local details.

Whether buying or selling, real estate clients need a marketer - not a real estate agent who is in denial!
