How Much Does It Cost Me to Sell My House?

"How much does it cost me to sell (list) my Brevard County house for sale?   It will be a short sale."

Last week I was discussing the Viera real estate market with a potential real estate client.  In his situation he was looking at a possible short sale.

Although this post does not address short sales in particular, it does provide answers to his question as well as letting buyers know who pays the real estate agent as well as those looking to rent a house or condo. Real estate fees are negotiable. There are no set fees. Each transaction is different.

So here is a quick summary of the the most common "payment" arrangements in the Brevard County Florida real estate market.
  • If you are looking for a rental property that is listed in the MLS, the owner pays the "renter's agent," not the renter.
  • If you are the buyer of a property that is listed in the MLS, the seller pays your buyer's agent. [Even if you are interested in a FSBO, your agent may be able to negotiate the seller paying their fee.]
  • If you are the seller of a property, you will be paying your seller's agent and the buyer's agent. [Short sales are different and are part of the process absorbed by the lender.]
If you are considering any transaction involving real estate, call a real estate agent and discuss the process and cost.   The bottom line: get represented!
