Still I must confess this was the first article I ever read that said during the holidays buyers are more motivated and will offer more money.
While I do believe that mostly serious buyers and serious sellers are in the market during the holidays, I am not so sure they are willing to spend any more freely than any other buyer.
Some sellers do not want the "hassle" ( interrupting shopping trips, holiday preparations, company) nor strangers trampling through their house with gifts everywhere. I can understand completely.
If you are a bit hesitant about selling during the holidays, why not restrict showings for about a week starting Christmas Eve? If you are considering selling your Viera house or condo, why not get with your real estate agent and get the paper work in order, photos, any preparations required (little deferred maintenance issues), and “go active” on New Year’s Day?
This pre-listing period could be put to good use by your real estate agent getting the marketing material lined up for release/publication.
Should one sell during the holidays? It is strictly a personal decision.
