Home Seller Tip: “With modern paint colors” is not a selling point…

Just read an MLS entry that states open floor plan with “modern paint colors.”  I am not sure exactly what modern paint colors are but the pictures show some really bright reds, bright blues, eye straining yellows.

I am not sure but I am guessing that these can't be the major selling points for a Viera, Florida home!

A couple of quick suggestions for those considering selling a house or condo.
  • When selling your house it is important to depersonalize – including paint colors. Dark colors make rooms appear smaller. Lighter colors such as the beige and antique white give the appearance of being larger as well as being brighter.  Best advice I have read is to paint the entire house (walls, trim, borders) the same neutral color.
  • Emphasize your home's best feature when marketing.  It may be the location, the views, the kitchen, whatever.  If modern paint colors is the best feature perhaps you should make it new, neutral paint!
