And many times buyers know the answers – more or less.
Then occasionally I run into someone like, say, Madelyn from out of town. Her response is “I am not sure. I will not know until I start looking.”
The home buying process will further refine a buyers focus. But, if you intend to find a new home there must be a starting point – a realistic starting point.
Like…
- Budget. How much one wants to spend and how much one can spend should be two different questions. Because one has a mortgage pre-approval for $250,000 does not mean they must or should spend that much.
- Location. Most home buyers have a general idea of where they want to live. The decision may be influenced by the location of schools, churches, shopping, medical facilities, employment or whatever. Being able to define the area boundaries is key.
- Basic requirements. Size, number of bedrooms, garage size, yard size, with or without pool.
