Can a home seller learn something from kindergarten “redshirting?”

Kindergarten “redshirting” is the practice of holding a child back a year when starting kindergarten.

By delaying the start the child will be one of the oldest children in their class with more developed skills.  Better yet parents see it as their child is not the youngest child with the disadvantages associated with that position.

The Brevard County housing market shows fewer homes for sale at this time (inventory under 3,000 residential listings).

The reduced inventory will eventually cause prices to rise.

Will this lead sellers to “redshirt” their homes by delaying putting them up for sale?  Will waiting bring the advantage of a higher price?

Or, will the perceived advantage be negated by the eventual higher price they will pay for a new home?
