Home Seller Tip– Should I leave some furniture in a vacant home?

I read an article this morning by Janice Ankrett a home staging professional in Ontario, Canada about staging a vacant property listed for sale.

The key take away from her article was this..The more awkward the space, the more you need to show the buyer how to use it.”

Granted most of the homes in the Viera and Suntree areas of Brevard County, Florida have a pretty traditional look with very few spaces I would consider awkward, staging is still very important.

I believe a home presents better to prospective buyers when it has some furniture and accents in place.

Some furniture really goes a long way toward helping people visualize the actual amount of usable space within a room.  I have actually seen folks lay down on the floor to see how far their feet went so they would know if a bed would fit.

If you are going to be selling your vacant home, consider leaving some furniture in key spaces.

On the other hand, if your home is not vacant, too much furniture may be a hindrance.

If it costs a little bit to sell your home more quickly it may be worth the money spent on staging, cleaning, landscaping....and sometimes painting.  Not all people considering buying a Florida home are Florida Gators fans!
