Selling Your Home - A Couple of Key Questions to Ask When Interviewing Real Estate Agents

I just saw a real estate agent's website that promoted the total number of homes sold in a career.  That is nice, for sure.

In the past decade (almost) I can’t tell you for sure how many transactions or the dollar value of those transactions I have been apart of in some way either as listing agent or seller’s agent.  I believe a real estate agent is only as good as their next satisfied customer!

And when I go on listing interviews in Suntree, Viera and Rockledge, no one has ever asked me about that record.   It is not like I am a major league baseball pitcher with a career won-loss record people will use to judge me.

While there are many question one should ask when interviewing real estate agents to sell their home, I think there are two questions that stand out as key.
  1. First, how long have you been in the real estate business?   Having gone through a real estate market shakedown over the past five years, I think the  real estate agents who were in the business before and remain in the business as we recover, show a lot of characteristics that are key.  Things like tenacity, creativity, stick to it ability, managing budgets, achieving results!
  2. And secondly, have you ever sold any homes in my neighborhood?  If so, when?  I have written this many times – local knowledge is critical.  Neighborhood knowledge is key.  Sure, anyone can place a sign in the front yard but knowing your neighborhood and where your likely buyer will come from is key to market success.
Ready to sell your Viera, Suntree or Rockledge, Florida home?  Call me to discuss how I can help you.  And be ready to ask me about my local knowledge!
