In the past decade (almost) I can’t tell you for sure how many transactions or the dollar value of those transactions I have been apart of in some way either as listing agent or seller’s agent. I believe a real estate agent is only as good as their next satisfied customer!
And when I go on listing interviews in Suntree, Viera and Rockledge, no one has ever asked me about that record. It is not like I am a major league baseball pitcher with a career won-loss record people will use to judge me.
While there are many question one should ask when interviewing real estate agents to sell their home, I think there are two questions that stand out as key.
- First, how long have you been in the real estate business? Having gone through a real estate market shakedown over the past five years, I think the real estate agents who were in the business before and remain in the business as we recover, show a lot of characteristics that are key. Things like tenacity, creativity, stick to it ability, managing budgets, achieving results!
- And secondly, have you ever sold any homes in my neighborhood? If so, when? I have written this many times – local knowledge is critical. Neighborhood knowledge is key. Sure, anyone can place a sign in the front yard but knowing your neighborhood and where your likely buyer will come from is key to market success.
